Happy Balentime's Day Everyone!

After Selah went to bed on Wednesday night, we "heart attacked" her door. When Jared went in to get her up in the morning, she was so excited. All day long she was saying, "Happy Ballentime's Day" to everyone over and over. She loved it so much that she's still saying it to everyone. She woke up on Friday and said, "It's Happy Ballentime's Day, Mommy!" I told her that it wasn't, but that we could still love everybody, so it could be "Love Day" instead. I didn't know that it could be so much fun to celebrate a holiday with a two year old.

Check out this great hair! When my sister Ginelle was 3 or 4, my mom came up with this fun idea to use tons of hair ties to make her pony tails fun and crazy. I thought it would be a fun day to try it on Selah. While I was still playing with it she said she had antlers and ran around for a while before she would let me finish.

It's kinda like a heart for Valentine's Day.

We cut-out, baked and decorated Valentine's cookies to share with everyone. This little girl loves to cook! It was a very fun day with Selah.Selah loves to brush her teeth and play in the sink. It's still a struggle to get her to really brush them and not just suck the water (and toothpaste) out of the brush, but at least she likes to do it. We're working on the technique of spitting, I guess it's a little tricky when you're learning. A few times I have caught her spitting just anywhere, and after I told her where it's okay to spit, she sticks her head over the garbage and does it. It's one of those things that I know I'll forget later, so I'm sharing mostly for myself in the future. And for Emmy because she misses Selah so much and wants to know all the funny things she does. While on the subject, she also turns lights on and off all the time and opens and closes doors when she should knock or wait for the person behind her to come in or out. When she knows she's in trouble she tries to run away really fast while yelling "NO!" so that maybe we will just drop it and not say anything to her. So far that hasn't worked for her. This past week though, she announces to me what she's doing wrong. I think maybe she realizes that it wasn't such a great idea to pour water on the bathroom floor, so maybe if I know about it I will give her permission to continue. She loves getting into Aunt Marisa's jewelery and pretty much anything else that Marisa would prefer her to stay out of. Selah plays really well by herself, so I have to call to her when she's in her room to make sure she's not getting into something. When I get a response like, "I'm just holding this." I know she's probably getting into something she shouldn't. That's when I go in there and make her clean up whatever she's gotten into. One more funny thing that she did this past week. Uncle Ty was laying on the floor doing homework and Selah came over to him, patted him on the back and said, "I will turn on Dora for you, Sweetheart." (I wasn't there to hear this.) When I came into the room a few minutes later, she and Ty were both sitting on the couch and she announced, pointing to Ty, "This is my sweetheart." Then she cuddled up to Ty with her arm around him and this funny look on her face that made me think of a socially awkward girl who won't leave the boys alone. I so hope that Selah isn't one of those girls who chases boys on the playground. She sure does love Uncle Ty. (Even if it does creep him out sometimes.)

Selah and I also decorated hearts and taped them (along with some candy) to the closet door for Daddy, Marisa's dresser, and Grandma and Grandpa's bookshelf. When Jared got off of work, Marisa and her friend babysat for us so we could go out to dinner at P.F. Chang's. We've wanted to go to P.F. Chang's since we were dating in Denver but it never happened. We didn't even go when we lived close to one in Utah. We had a great time and can't wait to go back. What a great Valentine's Day!

Jess,

This is a really cute post. What a cute girl. My two-year-old niece Adele does a lot of funny things now too, that I love to hear about. Carrie is so creative too. I love the hair idea.
