Happy Boy

This kid loves to smile! All you have to do is smile at him and he smiles right back. I can't get over how adorable he is! I think he's going to start laughing any minute now.

Hyrum is such a sweet baby. He will be two months old on Wednesday. He is a great night-time sleeper, and will sleep up to 9 hours at a time. I think we can credit that to his size. He's got to be at least 12 pounds now. He doesn't sleep as well in the daytime. Whenever I put him down, he wakes up. I think he's going to be a cuddler because he melts when I hold him close. He does give me a few minutes here and there, and sometimes he will take a good long nap during the day. I'm hoping to get into a daytime routine with him soon, mostly for his big sister. Which is really for me in the big scheme of things since happy kids = a happy mom (and vice versa). Hyrum has also started to make cooing sounds. He's also beginning to show interest in toys, that is, if staring can be called showing interest. Maybe he's just staring. I'm getting the feeding thing down, and we're having fewer issues with puking. It has been helpful to write down every feeding so that I can keep track. Hopefully we'll be able to space them a little further apart soon. Every two hours feels like a lot to me, but I guess it's better than getting puked on. Have I mentioned that taking care of a newborn is a lot of work? It's worth it, that's for sure, but I don't know how people can handle going more than a couple of months with a baby waking up several times a night. I'm grateful that I am given my trials and not someone else's. Life is hard, but I'm so blessed.
