I just thought that I would tell everyone that exercise works...
So, I've had this awesome hernia for about a year now and finally decided to have it checked out. The doctor wasn't horribly helpful, but he did tell me that I had high blood pressure. Since the majority of the docs I've seen in my life (not that many) seem to be less smart than a hot dog, I decided to have my mom check the blood pressure out since she is a skilled medical lady (that is an official title). She confirmed it, my blood pressure was in fact high.
Luckily I was just getting ready to start exercising again... for reals this time. We started a "Biggest Loser" competition at work about 2 1/2 weeks ago and I am determined to get back in shape this time. So far all is going well. I have lost over 16 lbs in that time frame and feel energized and healthy. Also, I had my blood pressure checked again and the doctor said that it was perfect. That part surprised me.
All I've been doing is walk/run most mornings and eat healthier foods like oatmeal and whole wheat bread. I cut soda and fast food out 100%. The first few days were the hardest because those nasty ol' cravings were still bugging me, but since then it's been great.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that the secret to being healthy is simple. Just do the stuff that you learn in elementary school. You might not see immediate dramatic results, but you'll feel better and that's really the best part of being healthy.
Just a little pep talk for all those in the same boat. Maybe at the end of our contest (August 15) I'll post some before and after pictures.
