Hyrum's 1st Birthday

Hyrum is so big! I can't believe how fast his first year went. He is such a fun baby. He's so happy all the time. He weighs about 26 pounds, can say about a dozen words, cruises around the house on his knees or while holding onto stuff. He has taken a couple of steps, but isn't quite ready to walk. He is pretty proud of himself when he stands up without touching anything though, it's cute. He tries to climb the stairs whenever we turn out backs and just learned to climb onto Selah's toddler bed all by himself (then he tried to get off by leaning head first over the edge, don't worry, I caught him). He's getting so big and we're having lots of fun with him every day. We love our little guy.
We had Jared's family over so they could give him their gifts since they were going to be out of town on his actual b-day. These pictures are from that night. He got lots of cool toys. My favorites are the horse and rooster flashlights that make the animal sounds when you squeeze the handle. I love them because Hyrum copies the sounds, it's so cute, and he's really good at it. He likes his toys too. And Selah likes to take them away from him so she can play with them. Sometimes, she gives him something else as sort of a trade. Probably typical of a big sister her age.
Thanks to everyone who got him presents, you guys are great!

Since Hyrum has been kinda sick, we didn't want to do cake or anything. We're still waiting for him to get better enough to eat cake, or at least a cupcake. I'm looking forward to taking pictures of him digging in to it....so stay tuned for those. Hopefully it won't be too much longer.
