It's a new year

So life doesn't seem to change a lot lately, just little things here and there. We've been trying to do some fun things. We haven't been skiing yet this season, we're kinda hoping that it will warm up a little and give us some nice new snow first. All the cold makes the snow crunchy and since it's almost a guarantee that I will fall down, we're holding out for some powder. Oh and maybe some discount passes. We did go ice fishing yesterday with some of my family, that was fun and cold. Steve (my step-dad) caught a little fish, and so did his friend Andy. We left before they could catch any more. On Christmas day we went sledding with the whole family, Steve's mom and step-dad were in town, and Jamison came up to join the festivities. Jay's family didn't come, but we had seen them earlier in December. Sledding was fun though, Selah enjoyed it except for the summersault she did--that kind of scared her. We went again a few weeks ago, just the three of us. Last weekend we hosted a group date night. Two other couples came over and we all played games. It was really fun. We hope to make it a monthly activity.
We really want to go snowmobiling soon, hopefully sometime in Feb. Jared has never been, so we feel that he needs to experience it. :) I have been twice but is itching to go again since it's been a while. I want to try snow shoeing this year.

I started working out at Curves early this month and it's going really well. I even got a friend to start going again, so we meet there at 6:00 am which has it's advantages, but can be really hard since I was used to sleeping until 8:00. Hopefully I will see some results when I weigh in at the six week mark. I still haven't lost any weight after having Selah, so it was time to do something about it. My goal is more about feeling good than being a certain size or weight, but it would be nice to fit into some of my old clothes.

Selah is doing well, she's 18 months now and has been going to nursery for 3 weeks now. It's great to have her in there finally. She loves it so much that she runs away from me when I come to pick her up after church. It's nice because she started the week that all the older kids went to sunbeams so it's a small group of kids left and easier for the teachers to manage. Selah is really social with other kids/babies so she has a great time. At home she's going through a frustrating phase for us to deal with. She's whining a lot and throwing little tantrums when she doesn't get her way immediately. And her favorite word is no, but now she yells it too. So we've been doing some time outs, but trying to find ways to stop the behavior before it starts. I think she's worse when she's inside all day so a daily outing is helpful, as long as she still gets her nap on time. Hopefully we will gain a little more patience and she will learn to express herself without throwing fits and saying no to everything. To be fair, I must say that she is the cutest little girl ever. She's beautiful, very sweet most of the time, and really smart. Her speech is advanced for her age, she says anything and she knows her name, the names of all of her aunts and uncles, plus her cousins, and grandparents although it gets confusing since we don't have nicknames for everyone yet. (If you add mom & dad, that makes 26 people) She knows them all from pictures and can tell you who they are. She also says pretty much any word you tell her to and is starting to use sentences. She loves to color and play with her toys and sit in her little chairs ("seat"). She's also starting to play pretend games and loves Ring Around the Rosie ("Rosie").

Jared is working at completing his online course through BYU right now. Then he needs to decide what to take next. Living in McCall makes it harder to do the school thing, but it has been such a blessing for us in so many other ways. Sometimes living so far away from movie theatres and lots of stores can be hard, but there are so many amazing people here and it has been really good for us financially.

Anyway, that's about it. My plan is to post some pictures because that's way better than reading my ramblings. Feel free to comment too.
