Last Minute

We took a last minute trip to Utah last weekend. We left at 8pm on Friday 6/6 and got back around 8pm on Sunday. It was quick, but we had a good time without spending money! Jared's mom was going and invited us to tag along since there ended up being room in the car. It was so nice. Jared's sister Malorie got her mission call on Thursday and waited to open it until we came up. She had to wait until Sunday at 1pm! I couldn't have done it!

These pictures are out of order, I guess it doesn't really matter since I'm back-dating this post anyway. These first few are at the St. George LDS Temple where we stopped on the way home.

The building below is the temple that is being built in the Daybreak community in South Jordan, UT. We're very excited for the open house and plan to go to it whenever it will be. I've always wanted to go to a temple open house. If you don't know what that is, a temple is open to the public for a few weeks after it is built and before it is dedicated. If you ever get the chance to go to one, do it! Temples are amazing! It feels amazing to be there and you can feel closer to God in His house than anywhere. There is such reverence in the temple, it really is a place where you can leave the world behind and feel a little bit of heaven. I love temples and I know that the work that is done in them is true. I know that we have a loving Father in Heaven who cares for all of His children and He has restored His church to the earth, just like in days of old. His followers have always been commanded to build temples and worship in them and do work for the dead.

Malorie feeding Hyrum rice cereal....and waiting until it's time to open her call.

And here she is with Mom & Dad looking over her shoulders & skipping to the news. Jared posted the video with their priceless reactions.

On Saturday we went to dinner at Red Robin to celebrate Jared's birthday. He got a free burger AND this amazingly huge and yummy ice cream cake. This was probably the best dessert I've ever had from a family restaurant and it was enough for all of us to share. Somehow we didn't remember to take a picture of Jared though. Oops!

It was really fun to see my family, I wish it could have been a longer visit and that we all could have been there! It was Grandpa Rowley's first time to meet Hyrum. I really wish it was easier for everyone to get together, I miss these peeps!

We couldn't take a trip to Utah without visiting our good friend Gandolfo, the maker of perfect sandwiches.
